Baby Modeling Portfolios

Welcome back..

Baby Emily
There are basically two purposes of baby modeling portfolios.  The first is to get your babies face out there for potential agents and agencies to see, and to garner some modeling work.  The second is to create a compilation of work that your child has done previously.

In this article we will be focusing on the first instance – a porfolio as an introduction to your child.  This type of portfolio is about presenting your child in the best possible light and allowing the potential employers to see the physical beauty as well as the personality of your baby.

In order to do this you should follow these general rules:

1.  Provide a headshot.  This will show how photogenic your baby is and allow them to see every feature properly.

2.  A full length shot.  The agent needs to know whether your baby is tall, short, thin or chubby.

3. Personality shot.  Every child has a personality so play on this, try to capture them doing things like smiling, laughing or even pouting.  The photographers need to see the personality so they match your child to the perfect campaign.

4.  Add diversity to your shots.  If possible add photos in different settings and also varied outfits.  There is little less off putting then photo after photo that is exactly the same.

5.  Make sure you have quality shots.  Poor quality distant shots are another real turn off so make sure these are the best possible.  However, saying this please remember that you do not need to go and spend a fortune on photographs as this is just to get your foot in the door, and as your baby grows will very quickly go out of date.

Once you have these photos make sure you label the backs of each one with your information for ease of reference.  I would usually include:  childs name, your name, address, contact phone number, weight and age of the baby.  By providing these statistics you are doing the agency a favour and making it simply too easy just to call you straight away.

Now you are ready to submit your photos to an agency and see your baby to stardom!
